Chickpea Tikka Masala

As many of you know Iceland’s mens football (soccer) team was competing for the first time in a major tournament at the Euro 2016 in France. The nation was paralyzed and full of pride after amazing results! Families and friends gathered to watch the games together and me and Dagbjört were no exceptions there. We love introducing our vegan and veggie lifestyle to other people and try to use every opportunity to do so. On game day I get really anxious and stressed so when we were going to cook for our family when Iceland was playing Ronaldo and all…

How to glam up your camping experience!

Last week me and Aron celebrated 5 wonderful years together. In these five short years we’ve traveled the world together, got married, moved to 7 different places, started a blog, worked together several different jobs, laughed, cried, and grown more than I thought possible. Although we spent the whole day celebrating, I wanted to surprise Aron the upcoming weekend. So… I found a house-tent to buy and asked him to come “glamping” with me. For you who are unaware of what glamping is, it’s basically just glamorous & camping put together in one word. So, buying the largest tent I…

WIWT - Earthy tones with my brand new wood watch

Lately we have been making our apartment ready for the upcoming season, redecorating and making the patio gorgeous with plants and other colorful things. Now is the perfect time to “redecorate” the wardrobe as well! (actually every day is the perfect time for that, haha) I have never been much for accessories, but we recently received amazing wood watches from JORD, and it has really changed that! I love the bright earthy color of the bamboo which makes it so easy to mix and match with a variety of outfits and adds a certain class to them!Today, I wore one…

The magical scenery in south Iceland

“That we leave our homes, that we step through our doors to the world, that we travel our whole lives not because we want to collect exotic T-shirts, not because we want to consume foreign adventure the same Western way we consume plastic and Styrofoam and LCD TVs and iPads, but because it has the power to renew us—not the guarantee, not the promise, just the possibility. Because there are places our imaginations can never construct for us, and there are people who we will never meet but we could and we might. It reminds us that there is always…

How to look fresh, radiant and alert when you’re tired

Work has been a bit crazy lately, so squeezing in a social life, extra projects and time to spend with my loved one’s as well has lead to a few late nights. So here are a few tips and tricks I keep up my sleeve to look less tired and more refreshed. Moisture Keeping your skin hydrated will make your face look smoother and more radiant. If you have dry skin, try putting on just a bit of coconut oil before you go to sleep and then wash off and apply moisturizer in the morning. I do this once in…

A cheap and easy way to glam up your home!

Hello sweethearts. Lately, me and Aron have been remodeling our home. We've been upgrading and buying new things, but also giving old furniture new life with makeovers! DIY - Living room cabinet transformation

We love doing makeovers on old furniture and giving them new life, and I am happy to say we finally finished our latest project, after weeks of procrastination. We found an old and worn out cabinet and bought it for cheap. We saw potential in it, but we were amazed at how beautiful and elegant it turned out! So here’s what we did: • We bought white paint, golden spray and a lot of nail polish remover & cotton buds.• We started on the cabinet top, removing the old varnish by rubbing it away with cotton buds soaked in nail…

How to relax and unwind after a long day

We have all experienced coming home tired and even stressed after a long and hectic day. I have those days regularly, where I feel exhausted, tired and often a bit stressed as well. I've lately seen a pattern for how I spend the first hours when I come home these days.  All I want to do is to relax and calm down and what I frequently do, and I think many of you can probably relate, is to sit down in front of my laptop or TV. Quinoa Goreng With Turmeric!

When we lived in Bali, Indonesia, we quickly learned to cook Nasi Goreng (fried rice), and some days we ate nothing else! It’s quick, easy and really delicious. Since we moved back to Iceland we've started to use quinoa instead of rice and we’re totally loving it! Quinoa is naturally gluten-free and contains iron, B-vitamins, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, vitamin E and fiber. It is one of only a few plant foods that are considered a complete protein and comprised of all pernine essential amino acids. Turmeric is also loaded with many healthy nutrients such as protein, dietary fiber, niacin,…

Celebrating women with smoothies!

Enjoying Singapore BIG time

A weekend get-away in Singapore was just what we needed. We adore Singapore, it's so modern and still has all these different cultural flavours around the city. This was our second time in this magical city, and we were stoked to spend our first night there at BIG Hotel, a super trendy boutique hotel. Perfect to say the least.       Beauty is in the details. Golden lights and stone walls. Coffee machine in our room and a tablet. The rustic feel in the restaurant and the minimalistic feel to the hotel in general.      Yes, my husband is adorable. I know. One…

The importance of work friendly environments & our new business

It's really interesting to me that different colors can have different effects on our emotions. Red is considered an aggressive color and blue is supposed to be more calming. Don't worry, I'm not going to bore you with a whole post on different roles and the various effects colors have on our brain. I just find it interesting to think about how much our environment effects our feelings, emotions and very importantly, our creativity. I love it when my house and bedroom is clean and everything is in place... Yes mum, a lot has changed since I got married, I've…

Summer Outfit Wishlist

Summer is around the corner and although I'm living in constant summer here in Bali, I can't help the traditional exitement that follows the last days of spring. This is the time where Icelanders get ready to seize those few days of summer, the only time and place you'll see people dressed for the beach in a 10-15°C and tourists walking by at the same time, wearing their winter-mountain clothes. If you've been there in summer, you know what I'm talking about.  I made a myself a "summer outfit" wishlist for this occasion. If you see something you adore, simply click…

Five steps to start your day right

This past week we have been in crazy transition moving to a new house. After painting, cleaning and moving in, we’re finally at ease, and we love it here. Can’t wait to show you pictures when it’s ready! One of the things I noticed when we moved here 7 months ago, was that people in Bali are morning persons. Locals and most expats wake up when the sun rises! In Iceland (where we’re from), the sun comes up at 11 AM in winter and never sets in summer… it’s a bit different to say the least haha. Our sleeping schedule…

See Kuala Lumpur in one day!

We spent the day in the capital of Malaysia!Do you have a short stop or a layover in Kuala Lumpur? Take advantage of the great transportation the city offers and see all the main attractions in one day! TransportationFrom the airport you can either take a taxi, train or bus into the city. Taking a taxi is rather expensive so I recommend taking the train or the bus. We took the train because although it costs a bit more (35 MYR), it's twice as fast (30 min).Train/bus takes you to KL Sentral, where you can travel cheap around the city…

16 ways to love yourself

Self love & self care has been on my mind lately. I've been feeling more tired than usual, so I've decided to be more intentional to take time to nourish my mind, soul and body. It's something that I know to be so important, but is so often forgotten in a busy schedule. The thing is, we can only love the person in front of us as much as we love ourselves (Mt 22.37-40), and we only accept the love we think we deserve. So, how much we love ourselves will determine how we treat others and how much love we…

The urge to escape from your everyday life by traveling. Ever since me and Aron met, we agreed that we wanted to live out our dreams, a life of adventures, travels, unrestrained, seeing the world and learning something new from it every day. Yule Cat

"The Yule Cat (Icelandic: Jólakötturinn or Jólaköttur) is a monster from Icelandic folklore, a huge and vicious cat said to lurk about the snowy countryside during Christmastime and eat people who have not received any new clothes to wear before Christmas Eve. The Yule Cat has become associated with other figures from Icelandic folklore as the house pet of the giantess Grýla and her sons, the Yule Lads. Words create worlds

I've been reading alot of articles and stories lately on the occasion of Icelands annual 16 days of activism against gender-based violence. This is something that should be important for everybody since it affects us all. We are born into society that teaches us who we are as women and men, and sadly, we still have a long way to go. But we are moving forward day by day, by people who know that words create worlds. That what we agree with is what molds our environment (among other things of course). And sometimes we just agree with society, because…
