It's really interesting to me that different colors can have different effects on our emotions. Red is considered an aggressive color and blue is supposed to be more calming. Don't worry, I'm not going to bore you with a whole post on different roles and the various effects colors have on our brain. I just find it interesting to think about how much our environment effects our feelings, emotions and very importantly, our creativity.
I love it when my house and bedroom is clean and everything is in place... Yes mum, a lot has changed since I got married, I've finally grown up.... But I've noticed that I am a lot happier when my surroundings are not a big mess. I'm not saying that I can't be happy when our bedroom or kitchen isn't perfect, (as that happens from time to time as many of you probably know), but if our house would always be a mess I know I would'nt feel the same. Clean and beautiful house/apartment equals happier habitants.
My covering of the importance of having a clean and beautiful home is not what's been on my mind lately, but it gives a better understanding to my next point, which is that it is equally important to me that my workspace is inspiring and not distracting. I don’t want to be working in a place where my creativity is smothered by noise, busy traffic of people and well, ugly environment. Last couple of weeks me and Dagbjört have been working incredibly hard on our new business. This means that we have worked a lot of hours, in a lot of different places and used our creativity a bit more than usual. What I soon found out during this time was that I worked a lot better, and more importantly enjoyed my work a lot more when I found the surrounding environment beautiful. A happy worker is always a better worker in my opinion, at least that’s the case for me! If I'm not happy, I’m not creative, and if I’m not creative, I usually don’t like the outcome of my work.
I'm lucky that I'm married to a woman that has an outstanding taste and is a genius at transforming regular and boring environments into something magical. It has always come natural to her to make everything beautiful, I mean, I have never looked better if I may say so myself. You get my point. As we have been changing work places regularly, I started to notice that she was always making our desk and surroundings more pleasing to the eye and less distractive. One example of this is when we were working late at home the other night and she lit some candles, moved a lamp and brought a small golden box filled with pens and put it on our desk. It made everything so much more cozy and I actually enjoyed sitting there and working. The transformation power of a golden box, candles and a lamp still amaze me! It doesn’t take much to beautify your workplace and trust me, it will change how you feel and work!
So what is the outcome of all our hard work lately? Have our surroundings and working environment been a big factor in the end product?
We just launched our wedding website business, I Love Us, last Sunday and I can say with great pride that I like what we created. What’s I Love Us all about?
After researching what the market was offering we found a lack of options and services for couples wanting beautiful professional wedding websites where they themselves don't need to use their valuble time to make a website. So we wanted to offer professional, clean and beautiful wedding websites where we would do all the work for them. So that is what we did. By combining beauty, clean design as well as practical features we created three diffrent templates meeting todays industry standards and needs. We wanted our websites to give a small taste of what's to come on our clients big day and I think we did a great job at achieving that. - Check it out yourself and tell us what you think! www.iloveus.co
I know that the end product of I Love Us wouldn’t have been the same if we hadn’t been as relaxed and inspired as we in fact were in our working environment. So to answer the earlier question, yes, I definitely think that our surroundings and working environment were a major factor for creating our new business.
If you or someone you know is getting married, check out I Love Us's Facebook give-away. We are giving one lucky couple a free website! Further details here.
