Things to do on a rainy day

Things to do on a rainy day

"It doesn’t rain everyday, so make the best out of a rainy day".

It's no secret that we have had a bit gray summer this year, and the weather forecast doesn’t look like it’s changing much next week either. I do like the rain now and then, but if you live in a place remotely like Iceland, the rain is more often than not horizontal. So here’s my list of inspiration for what to do at home on those gray and rainy days.

Clean up and clean out
It may not sound very exciting, but it's SO nice once it’s done. Put on some music and de-clutter your home! Get rid of the things you haven’t used for the longest time and enjoy the fruit of your work afterwards with your favorite sweets!

Shop shop shop
Now that you have cleared out and such, one might need something new? So go shopping at your favorite online shop! A little treat now and then is good for you.

Put on your most comfortable PJ’s
I love mornings that I don’t have to put on real pants. Lets face it, there’s nothing better on a rainy day than to put on your favorite PJ’s and your favorite TV show / movie.

Read inspiring books
What on earth could be more luxurious than a sofa, a book and a cup of coffee? I love books that I can learn from and feel like I’ve gained something at the end of it. I just finished “The supernatural power of forgiveness” (I can truly recommend this book to everyone) and now I’m half way through the book “Living from the Unseen: Reflections from a Transformed Life”. So far, amazing! What’s your favorite inspiring book?

Reach out
Get in touch with people you've lost touch with. We always have these people on our mind, so why not give them a call?

Music Update
Clean up your music playlists, and then explore new music! I love finding new artists. Most recent find: Harrison Storm. You’re welcome.

Computer cleanse
Since you’re cleaning anyway, clean up your computer too. Especially if you just finished a school semester, find out what documents and files you need and what you can throw out. Clear out and sort out old photos, apps, and more.

Make food
Hey, extra time to socialize and stand in the kitchen since it's gray. I'm no expert, but throw yourself into the cooking project that’s been in the back of your head or go on Pinterest for recipe ideas.

Spa day
Create a home spa. A long bath, facial mask, hair mask and a manicure/pedicure.

Make your very own movie festival
If you got a collection of DVDs, go grab those that interest you and start watching. If not, or your DVDs are too old and you want something new, you can watch fresh movies online through free movie streaming websites like movie25.com.

Simply daydream
Sometimes, being alone on a gloomy weather day is the best time to meditate and plan your future. So how about writing that bucket-list or making a vision board?
For a vision board, cut out images of things you want to achieve from magazines or newspapers and arrange them into a board. Design your board and hang it on your wall! Every time you’ll see them, you will be reminded of your goals in life even if it’s not raining.

Sleep
One good thing to do on a rainy day is simply to go to sleep! It’s not procrastinating, it’s giving yourself a treat from hard days work in the most suitable weather. Let the cozy pillows, blanket and cold weather relax your body from all the stress of the previous days and the upcoming and have a sweet dream!

I hope you found some inspiration. If you have other tips for what to do a gray summer day, throw them in the comments section and share your wisdom!
