I love long weekends like we just had. We were off for 4 days, so we got some needed quality time with each other and friends/family. One of the things we love to do is taking walks in Reykjavik downtown area, sipping on hot coffee in the cool breeze, and do a little window shopping. But since the downtown area is getting more cramped by the minute, due to a lot of traffic of tourists coming in and out of the country, we thought we'd mix it up a bit.
We walked the harbor towards Grandi, an upcoming neighborhood 10-15 minutes away from all the hustle and bustle. We had no idea how it had grown over the past few years, now holding multiple cafe's and boutiques! We visited Bryggjan Brugghús, amazingly decorated restaurant/bar and tried their special made IPA beer & portobello mushroom tacos, which we now whole heartedly recommend. We then visited Sautján Sortir, an adorable pastry shop across the street (that by the way offer vegan cakes), and other cute boutiques around.
Grandi, a district in Reykjavik that was until two years ago mainly the province of fishermen, has reawakened with a newfound creative vitality. - The New York Times
We didn't take that many pictures, but we'll definitely make up for that next time we explore this area. We also shot some outfit photos showing off our new January finds from the sales!
