How to glam up your camping experience!

Last week me and Aron celebrated 5 wonderful years together. In these five short years we’ve traveled the world together, got married, moved to 7 different places, started a blog, worked together several different jobs, laughed, cried, and grown more than I thought possible. Although we spent the whole day celebrating, I wanted to surprise Aron the upcoming weekend. So… I found a house-tent to buy and asked him to come “glamping” with me. For you who are unaware of what glamping is, it’s basically just glamorous & camping put together in one word. So, buying the largest tent I…

The magical scenery in south Iceland

“That we leave our homes, that we step through our doors to the world, that we travel our whole lives not because we want to collect exotic T-shirts, not because we want to consume foreign adventure the same Western way we consume plastic and Styrofoam and LCD TVs and iPads, but because it has the power to renew us—not the guarantee, not the promise, just the possibility. Because there are places our imaginations can never construct for us, and there are people who we will never meet but we could and we might. It reminds us that there is always…

My top 5 travel destinations for 2016

After traveling in Asia and living in Bali we moved back to Iceland the summer of 2015. We enjoyed our travels and the excitement that comes with moving to a foreign country and experiencing new cultures. When we finally came back to Iceland, we felt how much we had missed having a place of our own, having a home. We were lucky to find the place we're living in now and for the first time in almost 8 months we feel the urge to travel again soon, feeling wanderlust! wan·der·lust - /ˈwändərˌləst/. - a strong desire to travel. Experiencing the best of Hvalfjordur, Iceland

December is always a busy month, so taking time to relax and unwind is crucial. We had the privilege of being invited to stay at Hotel Glymur in Hvalfjordur, only an hour away from Reykjavik, and we seriously fell in love with the place. The hotel is placed on top of a hill with a breathtaking view over the ocean and mountaintops, and has hot tubs outside to enjoy the view or go stargazing in at night. So in the night we enjoyed a delicious three-course meal and then went out to the hot tubs to enjoy the stars (no northern…

Today I'm sharing with you my favorite things to do in Iceland in autumn! Hot drinksOk, let's start with the basics. Sometimes it's the simple things! Being comforted by a hot drink, whether…

Happy travelers!

If you ever want to feel like royalty, go stay at Dorsett Hotel in Singapore. Seriously. Before our 31 hour trip began to Iceland, we were honored to be invited to stay at Dorsett Hotel, an elegant & artistic hotel located perfectly next to the most chic cafe/bar/restaurant precinct! The location also offers easy accessibility to the city’s commercial and tourist highlights such as the Orchard Shopping belt, China Town, Resorts World Sentosa, and Central Business District. The lovely Lindy Lin, the marketing manager, was super helpful and friendly. She invited us for lunch and helped us pick the right places to visit…

Fun facts about Singapore

Our love for Singapore grows with each trip. We haven't spent a long time there, but so far I have to say; what's not to love? The skyscrapers along side tiny colorful homes, the multi culturural atmosphere, the neighborhoods, the cleanliness, the crazy architecture, the rooftop gardens and of course, the food. Singapore, also known as the City in a Garden, really is a far cry from any ordinary city.We were staying at the gorgeous Dorsett hotel (see more about that in the next blog) wich was perfectly located for us. We spent half of the day by the river, and the…

Enjoying Singapore BIG time

A weekend get-away in Singapore was just what we needed. We adore Singapore, it's so modern and still has all these different cultural flavours around the city. This was our second time in this magical city, and we were stoked to spend our first night there at BIG Hotel, a super trendy boutique hotel. Perfect to say the least.       Beauty is in the details. Golden lights and stone walls. Coffee machine in our room and a tablet. The rustic feel in the restaurant and the minimalistic feel to the hotel in general.      Yes, my husband is adorable. I know. One…

See Kuala Lumpur in one day!

We spent the day in the capital of Malaysia!Do you have a short stop or a layover in Kuala Lumpur? Take advantage of the great transportation the city offers and see all the main attractions in one day! TransportationFrom the airport you can either take a taxi, train or bus into the city. Taking a taxi is rather expensive so I recommend taking the train or the bus. We took the train because although it costs a bit more (35 MYR), it's twice as fast (30 min).Train/bus takes you to KL Sentral, where you can travel cheap around the city…

Celebrating prince charming!

Last week we celebrated Aron's 25th birthday! Aron is one of the most generous, loving and fun person I have had the honor to know. I'm so thankful to call him mine and that we got to celebrate this special occasion in such a spectacular way!  The day started early with sweets, gifts and singing, and later on lunch with our friends (thanks so much guys)! We then headed to Ubud to spend two nights in paradise at Villa Sonia! If you're coming to Bali and you want the authentic balinese experience, I recommend this place. We were in one…

My carry on essentials

I'm the person who always ends up packing way too much when I travel. Whether it's for 2 days or 2 weeks, I somehow still think I will need all my clothes and that I’ll for sure read 5 books while I’m there (what can I say, I like having options)! But over the last year, I feel like I have the carry on essentials down. *unless you have kids and then I have NO idea what you need! Here's my checklist, you can click on the items to see where I found it! ✓ Passport✓ Wallet✓ Music✓ Neck pillow✓ Toothbrush✓ Hand sanitizer✓…

A day in Ubud

We tagged along with our friends, as they were going to shoot engagement photos in Ubud. After living in Bali for half a year, we still had never gone there! Ubud is a very popular travel destination, so lot's of tourists, shops and yoga classes (eat, pray, love baby). And after going there, I can kind of see what all the fuzz is about. The rice fields there and scenery is absolutely breathtaking! We started our day at Seniman coffee shop. We were very lucky to randomly meet the owner, who generously gave us the full Seniman coffee experience! After…

Singapore

We spent the weekend in Singapore! And what a romantic get-away it was!We were very honored to be invited to spend the night at Naumi Hotel, a beautiful 5 star art-boutique hotel, located in the heart of the city. It really made our stay in Singapore an unforgettable experience.  This hotel is luxury at it's best. We got a habitat room on the 9th floor, with a view to die for! The room was absolutely gorgeous, equipped with luxurious linens and amenities, a rainforest shower, complimentary mini bar and our very own coffee machine! And needless to say, it didnt take…

Favorite coffee spots in Bali

If you're coming to Bali, the best coffee spots seem to be in Seminyak! Here are two of our favorite spots so far and pictures from our latest adventures there with our lovely friends, Marcia and Martin. AnomaliWe went with our friends to get together with the bean enthusiasts and experts at Anomali Coffee. They are known for their high-quality indonesian coffee, and every week they offer a free coffee tasting workshop! A day in Bali

After 3 months of waiting and 30 hours of traveling across the globe, we're finally here. Bali! In the end of May we met our friend Konny at the swimming pool in Reykjavík and she told us she had been visiting her son in Bali. On our way home Dagbjört said with a grin that we should move there. At first we were just joking, but a couple of days later we bought a one way ticket to Indonesia and now we have left everything behind in ice cold Iceland and are adapting to a whole new world in another continent. When…

Harpan

When you have your foreign friends come over to Iceland, it's an opportunity to go and enjoy the things Iceland has to offer, and the things we basically take for granted sometimes. Harpan is one of those places. It's a stunning concert/conference hall in Reykjavík's down town area. Reykjavík's pride and joy that costed us a more than we're willing to admit. Was it worth it? You be the judge. Situated on the border between land and sea, Harpan stands out as a large, radiant sculpture reflecting both sky and harbour space as well as the vibrant life of the…

Interior design - traveling to Iceland?

Here's a sneak peak!

Oh how I love winter

Why do we not travel more in the winter time? I can't believe that we Icelanders don't travel more around our country during winter! One week ago we went on a spontaneous trip to the beautiful town of Akureyri and what a beautiful country we have. Seeing it in it's cold winter clothes is amazing and so different than it is in the summer. This trip has really opened my eyes for exploring my country during other seasons than the typical summer months, just can't imagine all the time I have been at home, inside because of the cold, waisting…

It's quite the sight. We stumbled on a secret place..
