Celebrating women with smoothies!

Yesterday was Konudagur (Woman’s Day), an Icelandic tradition, roughly equivalent to Valentine’s Day in other countries. It’s a day where men celebrate their special someone with flowers and gifts, and sometimes other significant women in their lives too, like mother and daughters.

Aron definitely took me by surprise when he walked into the bedroom with a party hat on, threw balloons into the bed where I was laying, and then brought me a chocolate-strawberry smoothie (see recipe below), flowers and a gift containing an adorable glass jewelry box, a ring and earrings!

Later we went on a walk to get some coffee together, and in the evening Aron cooked us a nut roast and surprised me with a new pair of shoes! Uhm, I think it's safe to say this was the best ‘Konudagur’ ever. And yes, my man is adorable.

Here's the recipe for the delicious, mostly healthy smoothie Aron made me!

Chocolate & Strawberry Smoothie

♡  10 Strawberries
♡  2 Bananas
♡  140 gr. Dark Chocolate
♡  1/2 ltr. Almond Milk

Lookbook is for Lovers

  • Published in Style

Hey guys! Hope you had a lovely Valentines day last weekend!

It's not an icelandic tradition, but we like the idea of celebrating our love as much as possible. We were working last weekend but still surprised each other with small gifts and kisses. We also entered Lookbook's Valentine's day contest. Lookbook is one of the places we seek out amazing bloggers and outfit inspo, so it's been fun being a part of this contest. Here's a little sneakpeak! If you're on Lookbook, show us some love and be sure to check out all the amazing couples that entered!

Arctic Queen

  • Published in Style

My grandfather lives 10 minutes out of the city (Hafnarfjörður), in Kaldársel. I absolutely adore the place, it’s so remote and beautiful, yet so close to the vibrant city life - and I have wanted to do a photo shoot there forever!

Knowing that it was likely we would find some amazing spots to shoot some blog photos, I took along my new Chi Chi dress, and this is the result! They produce clothing with lots of feminine design details, like lace, floral prints, embroidery, off the shoulder necklines, sheer overlays, satin finishes, and cinched waists. Needless to say, I feel like an arctic queen in this amazing dress.

Weekend outfit at Grandi, an upcoming district in Reykjavik!

  • Published in Style

I love long weekends like we just had. We were off for 4 days, so we got some needed quality time with each other and friends/family. One of the things we love to do is taking walks in Reykjavik downtown area, sipping on hot coffee in the cool breeze, and do a little window shopping. But since the downtown area is getting more cramped by the minute, due to a lot of traffic of tourists coming in and out of the country, we thought we'd mix it up a bit.

We walked the harbor towards Grandi, an upcoming neighborhood 10-15 minutes away from all the hustle and bustle. We had no idea how it had grown over the past few years, now holding multiple cafe's and boutiques! We visited Bryggjan Brugghús, amazingly decorated restaurant/bar and tried their special made IPA beer & portobello mushroom tacos, which we now whole heartedly recommend. We then visited Sautján Sortir, an adorable pastry shop across the street (that by the way offer vegan cakes), and other cute boutiques around.

Grandi, a district in Reykjavik that was until two years ago mainly the province of fishermen, has reawakened with a newfound creative vitality. - The New York Times

We didn't take that many pictures, but we'll definitely make up for that next time we explore this area. We also shot some outfit photos showing off our new January finds from the sales!
